Customer Case Study: Building the Architecture SAP Said Wouldn’t Work
Description

As part of a major transformation of its core insurance platforms, IAG needed to connect its policy administration and billing environment with SAP financial processing. When SAP reviewed IAG’s proposed architecture, however, it advised that this type of integration would not work at the scale required.

IAG believed the approach remained viable. Led largely in-house, the team went beyond the recommendation and worked through the integration, performance and scalability challenges. The resulting solution is now in production, has been accepted as part of IAG’s strategic technology landscape and supports the almost fully automated processing of millions of item-level transactions.

This session explores how IAG evaluated the original concerns, maintained internal accountability and proved that an architecture considered unworkable could succeed at enterprise scale.

What You’ll Learn

  • How to evaluate and respond when a vendor-recommended approach conflicts with your organisation’s requirements and architectural assessment.
  • How IAG addressed integration, performance and scalability barriers while retaining ownership of the solution in-house.
  • How to move a disputed architectural concept into a proven, strategic production solution.
